OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The 64-team field is set for the 2008 ASA Girls’

18-Under GOLD Fastpitch National Championship, the Amateur Softball Association announced today. This tournament continuously displays the best talent in youth softball with USA Softball legends Jennie Finch, Cat Osterman, and Jessica Mendoza among others making appearances at the GOLD Championships.

The Worth Firecrackers, from Huntington Beach, Calif., are looking to defend their 2007 title against the best youth softball teams in the country August 3 – 10, at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

The field is composed of teams from every ASA region and 22 different states. Thirty-five teams are returning from the 2007 edition of the double-elimination national tournament.

All games played at the Hall of Fame Stadium Complex will be broadcast live over the Internet using Gametracker and all games played on the stadium field will have a live camera to follow the action.

The GOLD National Championship returns to a double-elimination bracket after a winner-takes-all format the previous two years. The tournament draw will take place July 28 beginning at 11 a.m. central time. Draw updates will be posted after each region is drawn.
