OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Amateur Softball Association is pleased to announce that ASA/USA Softball, as the National Governing Body ofSoftballin the United States, has been nominated for the 2008 Billie Jean King Contribution Award.The ASA joins exclusive company as past winners include LPGA, ABC Sports and McDonalds.

The Billie Jean King Contribution Award is presented to a corporation, organization or individual who has made significant contributions to the development of women’s sports. The winner of this award will have also demonstrated a continuing and exceptional commitment to the realm of women’s sports and physical activity.

The Women’s Sports Foundation Trustees and Advisory Board members determine the winner. The prestigious award will be presented to one winner andthe recipient will be honored at the Annual Salute to Women in Sports Award Dinner on Monday, Oct. 14, 2008 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. The 2008 USA Softball Women’s Silver medal team will also be in attendance at the dinner to take part in honoring the accomplishments of 2008 in women’s sports.
