Allentown – The Philadelphia Force gave their fourth round pick (23rd overall) in 2009 to the Akron Racers for Kellie Middleton, team General Manager Tom Kleinman announced today.
Middleton, a two year veteran, played two years with the Akron Racers. She played Outfield for the Racers over the last two years. In 2007 she was the second selection in the 2007 NPF Draft. A speedy baserunner, Middleton stole 30 for 32 stolen bases in the first 37 games of the 2007 campaign. During her 2008 campaign she stole 11 bases before being sidelined with a broken hand.
“I am looking forward to an exciting season with the Philadelphia Force and the Allentown community. What better way to culminate the end of my first year as a medical student at University of Pittsburgh?!” said Middleton.
“We were very disappointed to learn that our Two-Time All-Star CF Sharonda Mcdonald was not returning but has chosen to retire. We will miss her contributions and that great “Showtime Smile.” It has been said that within every cloud lies a silver lining. Our silver lining is our ability to replace her with a proven NPF veteran that I was lucky enough to acquire. Kellie Middleton brings the same speed exceptional defense and a proven bat. We are very excited about adding this 3rd year veteran to our squad. Oh yeah did I tell you she spends the off season this year finishing her 1st year of Medical School at the university of Pittsburgh. Kellie is just what the Dr. ordered!”, stated Kleinman.
