A very special weekend is planned for January 13th and 14th 2012 at the Plant City Softball Stadium Complex. The weekend will consist of exhibition games and special events including the FCA All-stars and the Wounded Warriors team. The FCA team will consist of a roster of professional players including Jennie Finch University of Arizona, two time Olympian – Dot Richardson-UCLA, National Champion, two time Olympic Gold Medalist-, Leah Amico- University of Arizona, three-time National Champion, three time Olympic Gold Medalist-, Meagan Denny-University of Texas, PFX Tour Pro-, Kaci Clark-UCLA, NPF Pro, Japanese Pro League, PFX Tour Pro- Francesca Enea-University of Florida, NPF Pro, Charity Butler-University Of Southern Mississippi, International Pro, Kristina Hilberth-University of Florida, PFX Tour Pro, Kristen Butler-University of Florida, PFX Tour Pro, Mary Helen Tyler- University of Central Florida-, Stephanie Brombacher University of Florida, three time WCWS, Meredith Gilpin-University of New Mexico Highlands, International Goodwill games, Brooke LeSage-University of California at Long Beach, PFX Tour Pro, Johnny McCraw- Men’s National Slow-pitch Softball team and member of Slow-pitch Hall of Fame. With the possible additions to the roster of Michele Smith and Jennifer Brown. These players not only are the best in the softball world but also support the mission of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) represents some of our nation’s bravest and most determined heroes, soldiers, and veterans. These young extremely athletic men have sustained severe injuries resulting in amputation while serving in the military/war, and through extensive rehabilitation, they have become competitive athletes again. Their armor now includes prosthetic legs and arms, along with extreme perseverance and attitude.
Bob Pinto, FCA National Softball Director, “We are honored to be able to set up this weekend’s many events with these special men. It will be a great opportunity to see some fun softball, meet the players, and most of all get our message and the message of the WWAST to many people.”
Events, such as autograph sessions, raffle after each game to get the “jersey off the pro’s back”, speaking events, special appearances, and media interviews are being finalized.
